Air defence in western Sweden
How did air defence operate during the Cold War?
This exhibition consists of three separate parts.
- The LS ((Luftspaningstorn – Air Observation Tower) from which enemy aircraft could be detected and reported on.
- Stril (Stridscentralen – Battle Centre) where the reported information could be collated and interpreted.
- KC (Kommandocentralen – Command Centre) where the defence planners were located. They were the ones who ordered the fighter aircraft to take off and perform the tasks set by Stril. The planners then took over via a central radar organisation to guide the detailed performance of the assigned tasks.
